LEGO SHELL STATION STATUS- 06/14/2001

I have not worked on the Shell Station a lot since MichLUG is going to a Sci-Fi show in Roseville, Michigan, and will be making a display there. Since that is first, and this Gats show is later in July, I will be concentrating on that more for right now.

After a MichLUG meeting in May, I received some tips from Jason Spears, a fellow MichLUG member and a great builder, so I will be using those soon. I have ordered black 2x2 tiles, since most people thought it would look better. I am spending a fortune on Bricklink to make sure I get this right. My latest purchases for this have been 2x2 Yellow tiles, 2x2 inverse white slopes, and gas nozzles for the pumps. I am still looking for Shell logo parts, so if you have any, let me know at ssanburn@skyenet.net

Here is the roof of the car wash. As you can see from this picture, it is cracked, simply because of the lack of structural supports on it. I will add a layer of plates to correct that.
Here is the front of the carwash, you can see the tiles that are on the bottom of the carwash, and I will add the 2x2 black tiles to the front, along with a path for the vehicles and some plants and such. The green plate was only temporary until I got some more large light gray plates.
Here is the front of the car wash, where the vehicles will enter. As you can see, I have laid out the driveway pretty much, I will see if I have to change it for the pavement yet or not. I have a selection of black 2x2 tiles with arrows on them that I will use also. There is a sidewalk for Shell employees to get in the car wash also. You can see the device for inputting the car wash codes or money.
Here is the entrance of the car wash, the white beams here are for the rinsing of the vehicle first, followed by the brushes.
The next step is waxing, and the white beams near the brushes do that. The small tank you see is the wax. In real life, they have large barrels for the wax and foam, but I don't know if I will include that yet or not.
The final step is drying, and here are the white beams that do just that, I put 1x1 headlights there for now. I don't know if I will add more or not, I am out of white ones for the time being!
This picture shows the tracks for the cars to go on, it would be nice to do one that really works, but for this project, it is a little out of reach right now.
Here is where the canopy will meet the shop. I finished building the canopy border, and I hope I have enough 2x2 yellow tiles to get the top of it corrected, but I think it will look great. The green you see on the top of the shop id temporary, I have more gray baseplates coming from Bricklink. I will also had several AC units and some vent piping on top as well, but that is a minor detail.
Here are the doors for the bathroom, I will cover up the open parts somehow, maybe with tape, and I will try to get some bathroom stickers as well. You can see the lights on the outside, but I think I will change them to either red or yellow if I raise them up, I don't know for sure just yet!
Here are the interiors of the bathrooms, I need to add a roof, and some vent piping as well. I will add some 1x1 corner parts for the sink, and a faucet, I have to find a few, I have them somewhere!!! I will add something to the toilets but I don't know what yet.
Here is the front of the shop with the canopy removed. As you can see, it is a pretty nice looking building, I hope my 2x2 tiles can cover it all. (The awning) I will change those light fixtures as well. I will add some other things, like an ice machine and the like.
Here is the front of the shop, and the doors. I have ordered a pair of white opening doors, so it will go a little better than these.
No, this isn't a war zone, the contractors seem to be a little messy! : ) The doors will be the coolers, I have more coming, and I will do the interior last. I might add a support pole for the middle of the roof, I need to expand the area that the roof rests on, it is a little floppy right now (Well, OK, a lot floppy!)
Hey you! Get out, we are not open yet!!!!!
Here is the other side of the station, nothing interesting except for those Shell logo's, and they might be sacrificed for the gas pumps!!
Here is the near side, the counter will be right behind the bored train company worker. The slots in the sidewalk will be filled in, I am awaiting yet another order to finish it.
Here is a shot of some tiles I have ordered for this station, I have a few Shell logo's left, some blue tiles for the handicapped "Differently abled for the P.C. Factor), the yellow ones are for the parking spots, the black ones with yellow arrows are for the car wash. The clocks were for Chris Leach's airport terminal, another GATS project.
