| This
is a shot of the canopy, and the pump. As you can tell, I tiled the top
white, using the 2x2 round tiles from various sets for drains. My wife
applied the stickers to the pumps and the island stands soon after this
was taken. |
 |
| Here
is the fronts of the pumps, along with all the 2x2 black tiles. I was
not finished with the tiles until one day before the show, but I am glad
I had them! You can also see the crash bar, which prevents cars from
smashing into the pumps. |
 |
| Here
is a good shot of the lettering I used for the Shell sign. it is an
Avery clear address sticker, and I used Word to print most of the
stickers out. You can also see the trash cans, and the squeegee rack on
the bottom of the poles. |
 |
| Here
is a shot of the stickers, the TURN OFF ENGINE and no smoking signs,
again using those clear address labels. All the poles would eventually
have these. |
 |
| Here
is a shot of the car wash controls, as I had to change the design
somewhat to make the layout work better. I moved the signs for the
prices as well. |
 |
| Here
is an overall shot of the car wash entrance, you can see the black 2x2
tiles with the arrows, as well as the driveway that leads into the car
wash. the trees and flowers were added at the last minute. |
 |
| here
is a shot of the parking spots next to the car wash. As you can see, I
had a blue stripe for the handicap parking, but I took it out at the
last minute, because I could not get a decent sticker for the symbol.
You can also see the vacuums and the sidewalk. |
 |
| Here
is the start of the diesel stop in the back of the shop, I just started
to figure what I was going to do here. |
 |
| Here
is a layout step, as I was determining what sizes needed to be what. My
remote for my minidisk system can be seen here, as the liquid
refreshments in the back. You need to keep going fully when you are
working hard! : ) |
 |
| Here
is a good shot of the middle of the station, between the car wash and
the shop. The 2x2 round tiles are for the various tanks and grads of
fuel. The personnel can drive up, pop the tops, and load the tanks with
fuel. The red one is a drain, of course. You can see the phone and the
green spot. |
 |
| This
is a shot when I was trying to determine the layout. As you can see in
the back, the light pole was just built, and I was seeing where I can
put them. This shot gives a good view to the lights underneath the
canopy and the SNOT technique I employed. You can also see some of the
details of the shop. |
 |
| Here
are those people talking again, what in the world are they talking
about? Must be arguing what flowers need to go where! |
 |
| Here
is a shot of a test I was doing to see how cars would look in the spots.
They are a little small, but I had no more room! |
 |
| Here
is a shot of the piece of paper I was using so can determine where my
station went, and what I can use for roadplates. I made sure it was all
compatible! |
 |
| Here
is the front of the station. The white bricks are what support the
canopy when it is fully assembled. I changed the front a bit, as I put
the red lights in, as well as the window placement. |
 |
| here
is a better view of the top, I have 2 AC units, one for the store, one
for the coolers. I put roof drains in, as well as the bathroom vents on
the upper corner. |
 |
| Here
is a late addition to the shop, I put in double doors for the back, so
the truck stop folks can come in too. The blank spot in the wall is
where the bathrooms are. |
 |
| Here
is the vacuum. I just used my own control sticker since none that TLC
made seemed to look good enough. |
