"Big Red" Train Station Update - 01/02/02

Here is an update of the station a couple of weeks before our next big event, GATS in Novi, Michigan. I believe that Tony came over at some point to help with the station, and these pictures are the result of that. After we had some problems with the roof at the fundraiser, he redesigned it, and was ready to go in time for Novi. We also finished the interior, using a lot tiles, and a lot of red chairs. I also started work on the canopy for the entrance for it.

For a bigger picture, simply click on the thumbnails here.

Here is the back part of the station, I moved it over here to have more room. It is a nice shot of the overall, you can see the wood which transported it.
Here is a close up of the side here, you can see the walkway and the platform entrances.
Here is a shot of the roof which was redesigned. You can see the red strip in the middle, which was part of the redesign. I am not sure now if I finished the interior in this shot or not. Half of it is, the control part of the station.
Here is the entrance side of the station. I thought it would be neat to have the LEGO train symbol as an welcoming mark when you entered the station. You can also see the pattern for the floor, the chairs, some of the phones, ATM machine, and the stairs leading up to the monorail platform. You can see I moved the door to accommodate two staircases up, one off loading, one up loading. The Arch at the bottom was for decoration as you entered the platforms.
Imperial troops have entered the station, Imperial troops have entered the station! Here is a good shot of the station at minifig eye level, you can see on the left the staircase leading to platform #2 and the stairs going up to the monorail. You can also see a strip of green where tiles are supposed to be, I was awaiting a Bricklink order to complete the floor.
Here is the other side, where the entrance to the offices are, and the other staircase leading up to the #2 platform. You can see the stairs going up to meet the platforms as well.
Here is a shot of the entrance, you can see the ticket booths on the right hallway, and the doors leading to the outside. The monorail is in position there, and the two staircases as well. I did not tile the entrance, I don't know why.
There is the monorail platform, I am not too happy with it, but for the show it was fine.
Here is the other side of the monorail station platform, on top of the office area.
Here is a construction shot of the canopy, you can see the arches coming off the front, as well as the glass on top. I was just starting the other side of the road in this shot.
Here is another shot of it, you can see some of the columns and so forth. You can see the angled glass on the front, I used hinges to get this, and I used slopes on either side to blend it. I used a plate layer to rest the angled part on the canopy.
You can see the columns, not very stable. For the show it was fine, but transporting it became another matter..
Here is a arch that Tony started, we used it hold up the roof in the second version here. I was not too thrilled with the color scheme of the arches.
Here is my messy building style, I should clean up after each session, but I don't. I need to get that done better. This shot you can see the slopes, and the completed side. I still needed to get the other side done, which included a covered area for people to wait for pickup. You can see my Minidiscs here, I was listening to my Minidisc Best of the Best listing, especially when Lynn is sleeping in the morning.
Here is the close-up shot again of the completed area.
