TDF-F900 HAMMER
|
OVERVIEW:
The
TDF-F900 Hammer is one of the saviors of the Former ADF in the Terran Wars,
when the Blacktron Empire invaded the Titanian System. The Hammer was
initially a prototype sent by the ADF to the Titanian System as a replacement
for the aging 800 series, which was the primary fighter in the ADF arsenal.
Little did they know that the fighter would soon be the backbone of the ADF
force in the system. The Hammer proved itself in battle again and again, and
can stand tall in the annals of ADF / TDF History.
CAPABILITIES:
The Hammer is heavier than the 800 series, but makes up for it in the armor and weapons category. it is somewhat slower than other fighters in this category as well. It is capable for extended fighting, with the incredibly accurate TDF Weapons System 8540, and the BioTech Laser Cannon Assemblies.
With the MM missiles, and the heavy laser cannons, it can cripple parts of capital ships, and destroy light fighters with ease. It is an ideal ship for longer hauls, as the automated systems have improved dramatically. it is also a good defense fighter, especially for escort squadrons.
The one disadvantage of the 900 Hammer is the speed issue. Since it is heavier and bulkier than other fast attack ships, it is better as a secondary wave fighter. Some battles in the Terran War had severe ADF casualties because of this, notably the Titanian 8 battle.
DEVELOPMENT:
The 900 was developed initially by a joint project between ADF Engineers and the BioTech Corporation, in Dallas, Texas. The first ship produced was shipped to the ADF Base on Titanian 6 for initial testing, to determine what refinements were needed, and to conduct the standard 6 month shakedown before official approval by ADF Appropriations. The ship arrived in mere days before the Terran occupation by the Blacktron Empire, and the ADF was grateful to have it. In mere weeks, the design was approved by Titanian 6 officials, and the M-Tron Ministry of Defense approved funds to begin construction. In the Terran occupation, a total of 52,854 900's were built. Along with the ADF, the Icronians, the Unitronians, and the M-Torn Ministry of Defense bought some, spec'd out for their individual needs.
ITEMS OF NOTE:
The 900 has several features that make it a distinct craft in the TDF Space Fleet arsenal.
UPCOMING ITEMS:
Since it's inception, the 900 Hammer has been invaluable. Now that BioTech has established an office on M-Tronia, talks are under way to do a partial update to the 900, which will be named the TDF-F950 Series. Watch for updates!
